Why This 3-Day Salmon River Rafting Trip Is Different

Most multi-day rafting trips move camp every day.

We don’t.

That means:

• No daily camp tear-down

• No packing and repacking

Private Riverfront Base Camp at French Creek

Our Salmon River High Adventure Base sits at the confluence of French Creek and the Salmon River, upstream of Riggins, Idaho. This is a privately leased camp near the edge of the largest wilderness in the Lower 48.

This is classic riverside camping with restrooms and drinking water. Simple, comfortable, and focused on time together.

You will have:

  • Sandy beach access

  • Swimming holes

  • Large group space

  • Separate camping benches for privacy

  • Mountain creek access

  • Fishing (Idaho fishing license required)

  • Hiking to primitive hot springs and other trails

  • Propane fire pits

  • Backcountry-style restrooms (no running water)

  • Drinking water brought in for your group

This is car camping. Not a glamping experience.

Bring your own:

  • Tents or small to medium campers

  • Sleeping bags

  • Sleeping pads

  • Personal camping gear

We handle the river, transportation, food, water, and logistics. You bring your sleeping setup.

That is how we keep this experience affordable while maintaining quality where it matters most: safety, guides, food, and river operations.

One of the Largest River Benches in the Canyon

This base sits on one of the largest natural river benches along the Salmon River Road corridor. During peak summer, public campgrounds along the Salmon River are tightly packed and often crowded.

Our private lease provides significantly more space, separation, and privacy than nearby public sites. Multiple groups can comfortably spread out across separate terraces.

Below is a general layout of the base camp property:

Multiple river benches. Sandy frontage. Creek access.

You get room to breathe. Not shoulder-to-shoulder camping.

Note: Access from camp down to the river involves a primitive trail that is narrow and moderately steep. Guests should be comfortable walking uneven terrain. There are other beaches downriver with easier access.

River Difficulty by Season

May and Early June

Class IV. Big water. High energy.

Minimum age 16.

Late June to September

Class III+. Warm water. Deep, playful wave trains.
These rapids still pack a punch and deliver big fun all summer long.

Minimum age 6 (50 lbs).

All rafting guests must be able to swim in a PFD and walk on rocky shorelines. View Essential Eligibility Requirements

Ideal for families and first-time rafters during summer flows.

Real whitewater. Professionally guided. Proven for thousands of guests every season.

Day 2 – 20-Mile Canyon Float to Riggins
