Terms & Conditions

1. Booking and Deposit

1.1 To reserve your trip with Adventure Idaho Rafting, a deposit of 20 % of the total trip cost is required unless otherwise specified at time of booking.

1.2 Final payment is due 7 days prior to your launch date, unless alternate arrangements are made and agreed in writing. If the remaining balance is not received by the due date, Adventure Idaho reserves the right to cancel your reservation without refund of deposit.

1.3 By providing your credit card information at booking, you authorize Adventure Idaho to automatically charge the remaining balance on the due date unless you contact us beforehand to make alternative payment arrangements.

2. Cancellation, Transfer & Refund Policy

2.1 Because our trips operate under limited federal and state permits, cancellations are strictly managed. The deposit is non-refundable, but is transferable to another available trip date within the same season if notified in writing at least 14 days prior to departure (unless otherwise specified for that trip).

2.2 If you cancel or fail to show up after final payment is due, full payment remains due and no refund will be provided.

2.3 If Adventure Idaho must cancel a trip due to low bookings, government restrictions, or force majeure (e.g., extreme weather, fire closures), we will offer either:

  • A full refund of payments made to us, or

  • A transfer to an alternate trip date or section.

Additional guest costs (flights, lodging, etc.) are not reimbursable.

2.4 We strongly recommend you purchase travel insurance to protect against illness, delays, or other unforeseen events.

3. Eligibility & Waiver Requirement

3.1 All guests must sign our standard Assumption of Risk & Release of Liability waiver prior to participation. Non-signature means no participation. The waiver contains additional disclosures regarding risks, responsibilities, and limitations that are incorporated by reference into these Terms & Conditions.

3.2 Participants must meet age, fitness, health, and weight restrictions as outlined in our Eligibility Criteria pages. Serious medical conditions, pregnancy, or inability to follow guide instructions may result in trip withdrawal at the guide’s discretion, without refund.

3.3 Guests are responsible for reading all pre‐trip information, arriving on time, and following guide instructions. Failure to comply with safety requirements may result in removal from the trip with no refund.

4. Guest Conduct & Responsibility

4.1 Guests must act respectfully toward other participants, guides, staff, property, and the natural environment. Harassment, unsafe behavior, or refusal to follow instructions will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the trip without refund.

4.2 All river trips are subject to changing and unpredictable conditions. Guests acknowledge and accept that wilderness river travel involves inherent and unavoidable risks, including but not limited to whitewater rapids, changing weather, wildlife encounters, remoteness, delayed emergency response, limited communication, environmental hazards, and reliance on guide judgment. Adventure Idaho makes reasonable efforts to manage and mitigate these risks but cannot guarantee complete safety.

4.3 Guests are responsible for bringing appropriate clothing and equipment (where applicable) and meeting physical demands of the trip. See our Planning & FAQ page for details.

4.4 In the event of an emergency or critical incident, guests agree that Adventure Idaho’s lead guides and designated staff will manage all communications with emergency services and outside parties. Guest communications may be temporarily restricted to ensure accurate information, coordinated response, and guest safety. Guests agree to follow all emergency communication procedures as directed by guides. This includes incidents involving minors, where coordinated communication is essential for safety, accuracy, and legal compliance.

4.5 Youth Safety & Protection - Adventure Idaho regularly serves youth groups and minors. We maintain strict professional boundaries and group-based supervision standards to protect youth participants and staff. Guides are trained to avoid one-on-one situations with minors and operate in observable, group settings whenever possible.

Adventure Idaho has zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, grooming behavior, or inappropriate conduct involving minors. In accordance with applicable law, Adventure Idaho staff are mandatory reporters. Any suspected abuse, misconduct, or boundary violations involving a minor will be reported to appropriate authorities.

Youth participants are expected to follow guide instructions, respect boundaries, and engage in appropriate behavior at all times. Failure to do so may result in removal from activities without refund.

4.6 Group Leaders & Chaperones - For youth groups, schools, churches, and organized programs, Adventure Idaho operates in partnership with designated group leaders and chaperones. Group leaders retain responsibility for participant supervision outside of guided activities, including during free time, transportation not provided by Adventure Idaho, and overnight accommodations when applicable.

5. Safety, Weather & Itinerary Changes

5.1 Adventure Idaho reserves the right to alter, postpone, or cancel any itinerary due to conditions, water flow, weather, fire danger, access issues, or other operational considerations. Guests will be notified as early as possible.

5.2 If changes are made for safety or operational reasons, your options will include: alternative trip section/date or refund of payments made to us.

5.3 Guests must familiarize themselves with the wildfire and mudslide risks in the Idaho wilderness and our policies.

5.4 Adventure Idaho reserves the right to remove any guest whose fitness, behavior or condition jeopardizes the trip’s safety, without refund.
5.5 Wilderness river trips operate in remote environments with little to no cell service. Internet access is not a standard service and is not guaranteed under any circumstances. Any limited connectivity that may be available is subject to advance approval, operational conditions, and company policy. Guests acknowledge that connectivity may be unavailable at any time and agree to comply with Adventure Idaho’s internet, disconnection, and emergency communication policies as published on our website.

5.6 Force Majeure - Adventure Idaho shall not be liable for delays, changes, or cancellations caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to extreme weather, wildfire, smoke, flooding, high or low water flows, landslides, earthquakes, road or access closures, government restrictions, permit limitations, equipment failure, medical emergencies, or acts of God. In such cases, Adventure Idaho may modify, postpone, or cancel trips in the interest of safety, subject to the remedies outlined in Section 2.3.

6.3 Youth Communication - Adventure Idaho does not engage in private or one-on-one digital communication with youth participants. All communication with minors occurs through parents, legal guardians, group leaders, or approved organizational channels unless otherwise authorized in writing.
