Sustainability & Stewardship
At Adventure Idaho Rafting, we believe that how we treat Idaho’s rivers today shapes how future generations will experience them tomorrow. As licensed and bonded outfitters under the Idaho Outfitters & Guides Licensing Board, we operate with special recreation permits issued by the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management across the Salmon-Challis National Forest, Lower Salmon River, and Snake River (Hammer Creek to Hells Canyon).
Protecting these wild, free-flowing rivers is central to everything we do. Our operations and training are designed to preserve the pristine beaches, clear waters, and remote camps that make Idaho rafting world-renowned.
🌎 Equal Opportunity
Adventure Idaho Rafting is an equal opportunity employer. Each summer, we welcome guides and staff from across the country — individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and stories that enrich our company culture.
Their unique insights and perspectives help us connect authentically with guests from all walks of life, creating inclusive, welcoming river adventures where everyone feels at home on the water.
We believe that getting people outside together, regardless of where they come from, builds understanding, friendship, and respect for the natural world.
🤝 Community Involvement
We believe that stewardship begins with community. In 2025, our guides and staff devoted dozens of volunteer hours supporting local events and cleanup projects throughout Riggins and the Salmon River Canyon.
“Huge shoutout to the crew at Adventure Idaho Rafting Company!”
“These awesome river guides have gone above and beyond for our community this summer—volunteering their time, lending a hand wherever needed, and bringing the BEST energy to everything they do. They have put many hours on the clock helping our community this summer.
Thank you for being more than just seasonal employees of the Canyon. We’re grateful for all you’ve done to make this summer great!”

From river cleanups to safety collaborations and community fundraisers, our team takes pride in giving back to the people and places that make Idaho special.
💼 Employment & Local Impact
At Adventure Idaho Rafting, our people are at the heart of everything we do.
In 2025, we proudly employed 32 full-time river guides and support staff, along with a team of dedicated local drivers and support crew. Across our other Idaho operations, including Twin Falls, we worked with half a dozen part-time guides and drivers, providing flexibility and opportunities for seasonal workers and community members alike.
We take pride in creating meaningful jobs for local residents while also opening the door for the next generation of outdoor professionals. Each summer we offer internships and entry-level positions that help young people gain hands-on experience in leadership, customer service, and outdoor safety — skills that stay with them for life.
Our company culture emphasizes mentorship, teamwork, and stewardship, ensuring that every employee, whether new to guiding or a seasoned veteran, contributes to Idaho’s thriving outdoor recreation economy and leaves the season stronger than they started.
💧 Our Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is how we operate. From the gear we choose to the meals we serve, we aim to minimize our footprint and give back to the lands and communities that make our adventures possible.
“If nobody knows about these wild places, then who will protect them?”
— Alan Davis, Owner & Founder
We believe in connecting people to Idaho’s rivers not only for adventure, but to inspire a lifelong respect for wild places. By taking thousands of guests down some of the best rafting rivers in the country, we highlight the importance of conservation and empower future generations to protect what they love.
♻️ How We Put Stewardship Into Action
Leave Camps Better Than We Found Them
We’re proud to follow Leave No Trace principles—picking up microtrash, cleaning beaches, and restoring sites. Our guides have hauled out thousands of pounds of garbage, tires, metal debris, and lost gear over the years.
Protecting Idaho’s Rivers from Invasive Species
Our stewardship efforts extend beyond Leave No Trace principles—we actively collaborate with the Idaho Invasive Species Program to prevent the spread of invasive flora and aquatic species across Idaho’s waterways. All Adventure Idaho Rafting company and rental boats are registered with Invasive Species Stickers to support conservation funding and compliance.
We use dedicated color-coded boats to prevent cross-contamination between rivers and coordinate our operations with state-run hot wash inspection stations. These proactive measures ensure that every trip we run contributes to keeping Idaho’s waters clear, healthy, and safe for future generations.
Pack It In, Pack It Out—Every Time
All our trips are 100% pack-in, pack-out. We handle every form of waste responsibly—leaving nothing behind but footprints in the sand.
Local Sourcing & Community Support
We support Idaho’s economy by sourcing local meats and produce, maintaining our vehicles with local mechanics, and partnering with Idaho-based outdoor brands like NRS and AIRE Rafts for gear, repairs, and sustainability-minded manufacturing.
Education & Guide Training
Our guides are trained to teach guests about Leave No Trace principles—everything from straining dishwater to packing out waste and reducing camp impacts. Every guest leaves with a greater understanding of how to care for wild places.
Microtrash Cleanups & River Recovery
We participate in river cleanup efforts and even assist with vehicle recoveries to reduce oil and contaminant pollution in local waterways.
Efficient Travel & Reduced Emissions
Carpooling and filling our company buses reduce the number of vehicles driving to river access points—helping lower emissions while keeping logistics simple for guests.
🌎 Preserving Idaho’s Rivers for the Future
From the Main and Lower Salmon to the Snake, these rivers represent the heart of Idaho—and some of the most iconic rafting experiences in the United States. Through education, action, and example, we’re working to keep them wild and accessible for generations to come.
