Main Salmon in a Day: The Whitewater Sufferfest Challenge!

Looking for a test of endurance and grit? The “Main Salmon in a Day” trip is not for the faint of heart. This is a raw, unfiltered rafting experience, where you will battle high water, massive waves, and long hours on the river. You’ll be expected to paddle hard, push through fatigue, and even take turns on the oars. This isn't a float, it's a race against time.

Watch Now:
Main Salmon in a Day 2024

The Challenge:

The Main Salmon cuts through the heart of the largest wilderness in the lower 48, a remote stretch of Idaho's rugged backcountry with no roads and no easy way out. By car, it's a 10 hour drive from the put-in to take-out. By river, the typical 81-mile journey takes 5-6 days to complete, but with the right team, high water, and relentless drive, we’re pushing to do it in less than a day—racing against the clock and even the shuttle vehicle.

Expect the Unexpected:

This trip is all about speed and efficiency. Think scarfing down tortilla sandwiches in between rapids and Nascar-style pit stops. You’ll run light and fast, carrying only the essentials in a small dry bag and sleeping bag, prepared to spend a night on the river if the conditions demand it.

The Journey:

Start your adventure camping at Corn Creek, ready for an early morning launch. From the moment you hit the water, it’s go time! No leisurely stops, no comforts—just pure, adrenaline-fueled rafting through some of the wildest water Idaho has to offer.

The Reward:

After conquering the river, enjoy a well-earned steak dinner on our back deck in Riggins, sharing stories of the day’s challenges and triumphs. Whether you head home or stay the night to recover, one thing is certain — you’ll leave with memories and a sense of accomplishment few others will ever know.

This is a sufferfest in every sense of the word. Not everyone is up for the challenge. But for those who are… the river awaits. Do You Have What It Takes?
